SUMMERSCHOOLS:

DEGREES OF TRANSPARENCIES – working with Lutradur

JULY:   Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29  at Bromsgrove Rugby Club (only 4 places left)

AUGUST: Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 (just after the Festival of Quilts (2 places left)

These 3 days will give you the chance to explore working not only with Lutradur but also combining it with organza and dyed fabrics.  We will be painting and printing on all three with thermofax screens and some burning will come into it too!

With the inspiration source you will have brought along we will then design and make a transparent wall or windowhanging.

You will need a sewing machine, but if you travel from abroad a sewing machine can be borrowed.

Cost is £150 for the three days, includes lunch and refreshment throughout the day,  a thermofax screen, dyes and paints.  Lutradur can be purchased on the day.

3 DAYS OF DYEING AND PRINTING

AUGUST:  Monday 16, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 (just before the Festival of Quilts) 4 places left

This starts off with dyeing a few metres of cotton fabric in colour-runs, plough dyeing and rainbow dyeing, even have a go at dyeing with natural indigo.  Then we proceed to design a thermofax screen, so you can create your own printed fabrics.  We will also experiment with printing with a de-constructed screen and printing with discharge paste on black fabric.

You will go home with an enormous stash of unique fabrics.

Last year’s students all had a fantastic time and many have signed up for the other summerschool this year.

Cost is £150, includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day, a sketchbook, a thermofax and dyes etc.  You will need to bring your own fabric.

The local ‘Ladybird Hotel’ is within walking distance of the Rugby Club and very close to Bromsgrove Train station – with a connection to Birmingham Airport and the NEC.
