For next summer I have planned the following – and they are already booking up!!!  As there was a lot of interest in the TEXT in TEXTiles workshop I’ve added it as an alternative to the 3 or 4 day workshop later in August. We will be using the same techniques, but they can be used for a map or  a piece of prose.

 

TEXT in TEXTiles

27-28-29 July (no places left, but if you’re interested email me , I’ll try and find some more dates – perhaps as part of  an autumn course)

A 3-day course where we take a favourite piece of text and experiment initially in sketchbooks with different calligraphy techniques, then transfer these to pieces of fabrics using procion dye, discharge paste and thermofax screens to produce several pieces of cloth that can be made into textile art, either on the final day or at home.

Days include all refreshments, lunch and use of art materials. Cost £150, B&B available

DYE, PRINT AND STITCH (filling up fast – only 4 places left)

2 -3 – 4 August

We start with dyeing a piece of fabric, continue to work out some print design; you can create your own print screen or chose some of mine.  We then print with fabric paints and de-colouring paste to create a unique range of fabrics, which are then cut up and stitched together again!  Three days filled with colour, design, textiles and lovely food!

Days include all refreshments, lunch and use of dyes etc.  Cost £150, B&B available.

(12) 13, 14, and 15  August, (8 places left)

This 3- or 4 – day course I’ve been teaching in my monthly classes with some stunning results. Depending on demand this can be 4 days, or those who prefer can miss the first day and make it a  3-day course – design work can be done as homework.

We take a map and a Google Earth map of a favourite place or a much loved piece of  text as inspiration and explore the artistic possibilities, working in sketchbooks etc.

Painting layers, working with soya wax, creating print screens and producing a range of unique fabrics to be stitched into textile art.

Days include all refreshments, lunch and use of art materials.

You will need to bring your own stash of fabrics etc. Cost £150 for 3 or £200 for 4 days.
