Really sorry to tell you that Ineke died last night.
She had been deteriorating quickly since the start of the year but typically continued fighting bravely. In the end it was peaceful and the family were with her.
We are obviously incredibly sad but ultimately relieved.
She will be missed by us all, she was a unique, inspirational, talented lady.

Time for another update.
Good news first, on Thursday we had a beautiful granddaughter. Little Emmylou Ine May weighed in at 6.11 or 3 kg and all is well. After three boisterous grandsons it is lovely to have a pretty little girl.

The not so good news is that the last scan showed more growth and after two years chemotherapy has stopped. There still might be a possibility of a trial, but the oncologist has gone on holiday and we have to wait and see. After the diagnosis on Friday I got an internal bleeding and ended up in hospital for the weekend.  They did managed to repair it and you can imagine it was quite a shock, a double whammy.
And then the brilliant news of the new baby, it's all up and down.

We are slowly coming to terms with it all with the help of our close family and doctors and appreciate some space. No need for sending cards and visits, it can get too emotional. We know you are all with us in thoughts and prayers.

Hello everyone,
It's been some weeks since we got back from France and I'm now in the middle of the second cycle of tablets.  Whilst I'm taking them I do not feel too bad, but they did hit me some days afterwards by feeling sick and tired. Not being able to enjoy the food John prepares for me is hard for both of us.  But it wears off and I soon had my appetite back.  The hair is growing quite nicely as well.

I even made it to the Festival of Quilts on the Friday morning. It was lovely to meet so many of you after such a long time. You can imagine it got quite emotional at times, but that was expected and we kept our visit short.  I spent an hour or so at the Art Textiles Made in Britain stand which was a treat.
It was a clever and varied exhibition.  I enjoyed visiting some of the other art quilt galleries, but avoided the trading areas.

We've also seeded some sunflowers for the grandsons, they've grown to an enormous height. Son in law Ian is 6ft 4" so you can see how tall their are! The bed of strawberries has been a hit too and the boys love picking them when they are here.

On Thursday we're off to France again for a couple of weeks of relaxation and hopefully sunshine. Can't wait.
Then its back to the UK and the arrival of another grandchild to look forward too!
Love to all of you and as always its good to read your comments.

A bit more news

Hello again,

Last night we returned from France where we had a fabulous time.
The first few days were cloudy, but it gave John and me a chance to get on with cutting the hedges and grass and lots of other jobs to do.

As you can see it did me so much good, I swam every day and we walked the beach with George early evening. I put on a bit of weight too, all that french bread paté and cheese and the occasional small glass of wine!

Today we met up with the oncologist after 8 weeks of no treatment and Wednesday I am starting a new tablet based trial drug. Let's hope it works. In France my hair started growing again, it looks a bit like a 5 o'clock shadow, but it is there and might grow even more. I don't have such a shock when I look in the mirror now.  In the picture I'n wearing a lovely comfy and very natural wig.

I did not much stitching, enjoyed being lazy. But at times I almost felt like normal.  The morning swims whilst John is walking George, are the best. The peaceful silent and the smells of the Vendee, lavender, cut grass and ploughed fields.
I've also been working on texts for labels and a bit of editorial for the catalogue that accompanies our
'Concealed' exhibition at the Festival of Quilts. I will try and be there if I'm feeling OK.

Here is a sneak preview of my Pieces of Positivy.

They are all made of recycled quilts, cut into squares and rollered with white emulsion.

Of course they look better in real life, so do come and visit the
Art Textiles Made in Britain gallery.

The catalogue will be for sale at @7.50 as well as my journal books, a special show offer of only £10 for all three.

Will be back soon with more news.

We had a lovely time in France in April, but returned to more doctor and hospital appointments. Chemo coincided with a heavy cold, which eventually turned into pneumonia. I am still trying to get over this, which is taking quite a lot of rest (difficult when you've been feeling good) and antibiotics.

So keeping this update short and will try and keep you up to date.
In the meantime my daughter Liske has planned a varied selection of workshops at the Barn, details are on the Diary or Workshop page of the website.
We have also set up a Facebook Page 'Littleheath Barn Studio' where you find lots of photographs and the latest news on the workshops.

last week we had another scan and got the result today, good news as all was stable. As you can imagine that was quite a relief.
To take our minds of things we booked a few days in Cornwall in a lovely cottage by the sea on Fistrall beach in Newquay. We had a lovely time, the sun was out and we took George as well. He loved it!

Watching the sunset and the surfers from our little garden was a real treat.
Since being back, Liske and Claire has another successful print day at the studio and have planned a couple more. They've also organised two dyeing days on the 16th and 18th of April, and together we dyed some happy colours in preparation. More info on our Facebook page 'Littleheath Barn Studio' or my website.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter, don't eat too much chocolate!
Keep the good vibes, prayers and wishes going. They are working.
With love

Lots happening this month.

I celebrated my 60th on the first and this life size sheep was a present of John and the kids.

On Saturday my family flew in from Holland, even my 88 year old mum for a whirlwind 36 hour visit.

The studio was transformed into a magical dinning room lit by fairy lights and candles, a perfect place for a family dinner party comete with a chef and waiter.

On the Sunday we had lunch together with the three little boys, more photo memories.

January

To start the year I've been enjoying Edwina's classes and we've been doing some free drawing, then transferring it to stitch.

January has not long to go and apart from an occasional sunny day it's been quite grey.

The treatment has not been to disruptive but yesterday's session got postponed a couple of weeks. I don't mind now as by the end of the second week I start feeling well again and then it's time for another hit.

The good news is that although my hair has thinned I've got most of it left!

My first inspiration is always tulips and with spring not too far away it seems appropriate.

With a couple of simple stamps I printed the tulips on canvas, perfect for the boho bag.

A narrow zig zag in black for the thicker lines and then free machined in the thinner lines.

I also made a lovely new thermofax of a tulip with bulb to print another series of cushions.

My daughter Liske and her friend Claire have planned a printing morning at the barn on Saturday 20th February, if you're interested email me. Cost is £20 for the morning all materials and refreshments included. We're also planning some more studio days with Liske and hopefully myself running these. More info on the workshop page.
