autumn leaves
This weekend I was teaching in Cornwall at the Cowslip workshop in Launceton – a wonderful venue on a farm.  We were creating landscapes using all kinds of different sheer fabrics, like organzas, metallic organza, painted different thicknesses of Lutradur, dyed scrim and some lovely hand dyes fabrics as well.
This was my first sample, I used a leaf from one the trees as a template and either drew around it with a soldering iron or cut them out of fabric backed with Bondaweb.  All the leaves were then stuck on a clear poly organza covered in tulle and stitched.   The front of the 2010 Ton Schulten calendar inspired me as well – so I used that as my second sample.

The cafe at Cowslip serves the most delicious organic food and almost everything is grown on the farm – how about this vase of chard leaves – arent they beautiful in the sunlight?
The drive down to Cornwall was a bit wet at times, but the sun breaking through the rain clouds was a bit magic, so I managed to get my camera out and took this picture -
I only just checked it out and the result is interesting.
The windscreen wipers give it a good frame.
